Abstract: The hysteresis phenomenon of droplet moving on surfaces has not yet been fully explained theoretically，and the analysis and calculation of the hysteretic force of a droplet is one of the key points to quantitatively describe the hysteresis phenomenon. By means of high speed camera，the hysteretic force of a droplet on hydrophilic and hydrophobic surface was studied and further verified by experimental data. The results indicate that the hysteretic forces of droplets moving on hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces are corresponding to spreading and adhesion respectively. The hysteretic force can explain hysteresis phenomenon and provides a theory basis for furthering research on contact angle hysteresis (CAH).
