Abstract:

Experiments were performed on the breakup of water droplets in a coaxial twin-fluid air-blast atomizer by a high-speed gas stream.With the measurements of Sauter mean diameter（SMD）distributions at a downstream distance of the atomizer，the droplet size was found first to decrease，reaching a minimum，and then to increase monotonically with the downstream distance.Correlation of L_c where the minimum droplet size appeared as a function of aerodynamic Weber number and liquid Reynolds number was analyzed.The growth rate of droplet size passes by L_c downstream increased with increasing water velocity，and the relationship between SMD and x/D_g accurately reflected the increasing trend of droplet size.
