Abstract: The mass loss in pyrolysis of macerals from Shenmu coal was systematically investigated by using TG-151 pressurized thermobalance at different final temperatures and heating rates.The volatile yield was related to petrographic composition.The results of ΔW,the difference of coal volatile yields between experimental and theoretical ones, indicated that vitrinite and inertinite had significant synergistic effect during pyrolysis. With increasing temperature, the synergism of vitrinite and inertinite during pyrolysis increased.The heating rate had different effect on the synergism which depended on the final temperature.
