Abstract: A combined approach of thermodynamic analysis and mixed-integer linear programming is presented for performing structural and parameter optimization in the integration of energy system of chemical processes. Tnermodynamic analysis is used to set up a superstructure configuration of energy system in order to reduce the space of search. The application of the combined approach is illustrated by a revamping integration of a large existing energy system in a refinery complex.
